THE SKY IS FALLING
I woke up this morning and ran into my daughter’s room to kick her out of bed so she wouldn’t be late for work (she’s a pre school teacher in Fairfax County). She sleepily rolled over and said, “no school…snow”. Hmmm, I thought. I looked outside and saw some slush and that rain that’s like spit. Hardly snow!
Then, off to work where half of my staff had to stay home or were late because of school closings. At around 11:30 we got a notice from one of our staff husbands that the government is closing two hours early due to the snow. At the same time one of our account folks found out that her child’s school is closing at 1:42 because of the snow.
I then decided to let everyone go early so they could beat the rush of the government workers making their way home. I warned everyone to take work home with them just in case we’re all snowed in tomorrow.
I can’t help but be cynical about this and I’m feeling quite certain that, because of that cynicism, we’re probably going to get a foot of snow. I’ll let you know tomorrow.
But, for right now, I’m staying at work, going to yoga and then making my way home at the normal time. If you see me on the side of the road around 7:00, stuck in the snow, just remind me about what a snot I was all day.
